How do I assemble my furniture? Your sofa will arrive with assembly instructions, but you can download them here for the ottomansofa, and sectional.

What tools do I need for assembly? None! Just your hands.

Can I put the furniture together by myself? Yes.

I ordered a Sectional. Where do I put my chaise? Either the right or left side.

Is Sabai durable? Very. Our sofa has passed all ANSI/BIFMA X5.4-2012 Lounge and Public Seating Tests, which tests whether the piece can withstand ten years of regular use by a person that is 275 lbs.



How is Sabai sustainable? Recycled, natural, and FSC-certified materials, domestic production, and plastic free shipping.

Sabai is made to order to reduce waste and avoid overproduction. Everything is flat-packed and replaceable so if something breaks, it can be replaced instead of tossed.

What about off-gassing and toxic materials? Our materials are chosen to minimize toxic off-gassing in your home:

  • Cushions are made from CertiPUR-US certified high resiliency foam, which has no flame retardants or formaldehydes.
  • Recycled Velvet and Upcycled Poly fabrics are untreated, to avoid any off-gassing.
  • Cotton fabric has been minimally treated to be water repellent, as cotton is a naturally very absorbent fiber.
  • Frames are built from FSC-certified pine plywood and hardwood and water-based glue with zero VOCs (volatile organic compounds).

What about flame retardants (FRs)? Our materials do not include any flame retardants.

What type of glue do you use? Our furniture is upholstered using a water-based glue containing no VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds). 

Is Sabai LEED Certified? Our products are currently not LEED certified. 


Closed Loop Program

Is there a time limit to sell back your Sabai pieces? There is no time limit to selling back your Sabai furniture pieces - we will accept any and all Sabai pieces, though we can not guarantee sale.

Can a Sabai piece be sold back in any condition? Sabai will accept any and all pieces, in any condition. While we cannot guarantee that we will be able to sell every piece, Sabai will donate, recycle, or dispose of any unsellable pieces in the most sustainable way possible.

How can I start the buyback process? To sell your furniture back, please email us at with your order #, product details, personal information, and monetary preference (a gift card for 20% of the secondhand sale price or cash for 15% of the secondhand sale price). Once you submit your form, a team member from our partner, Floorfound, will reach out within 7-10 business days to schedule a pick-up. Your furniture will then be picked up, assessed, and added to our site. We will leave it for sale on Sabai Revive for 90 days. If your furniture does not sell within the 90 days, we will donate it. If your furniture sells - we will reach out to confirm the sale price. If your furniture doesn't sell within 90 days, we will let you know and will seek end of life solutions, with a priority on donating the product to continue keeping it in use. For any Sabai pieces that are not sold, our team will send a $40 Sabai Gift Card to the furniture piece owner as a thank you for their commitment to sustainability.

How long will it take to get my order? Orders typically ship within *2 weeks of confirmation. We ship via UPS Ground. Orders take 2-3 days to reach the East Coast US and 4-5 days to reach the West Coast US. You will receive tracking as soon as your order ships.

Do you offer environmentally-friendly shipping options? We carbon offset all our shipments and package our sofas in 100% recycled boxes without any plastic. 

Where do you ship? We currently ship only to the United States.

How much is shipping? Shipping is free of charge to the continental United States. Shipping to Alaska and Hawaii currently costs $550 for our Sectionals, $400 for our Sofas, and $100 for our Ottomans.

  • Arm & Pillow Box: 29” x 18” x 35”, 50 lbs
  • Bench Seat Cushion Box: 33” x 28” x 16”, 20 lbs


  • 3 Single Cushions Box: 28” x 24” x 24”, 20 lbs

The Essential Sectional arrives in 5 separate boxes with the following dimensions and weights:

Are Sabai sofas pet-friendly? Our sofas are water-repellent and easy to spot clean and vacuum. Our fabrics are dog-scratch resistant, but a persistent cat may do some damage. Pet hair can be more visible on velvet fabric.

What about stains? Our sofas are stain proof. Spot clean with household cleaners, but avoid bleach on cotton fabric.

Are your covers machine washable? Our velvet and poly covers are machine washable. Wash cold with detergent, tumble on low or no heat. Allow to hang dry.

Do not iron our Upcycled Poly!

When will slipcovers be available? We will be launching slipcovers early next year.



How can I change/check the status of my order? Please message our team in the chat box in the bottom right corner of our website.

How can I cancel my order? If your order has not yet shipped, email with ‘Cancellation Request’ in the subject.

What is your return policy? We accept returns in original condition for full refund within 30 days. Returns are free of charge as long as you keep the packaging to ship the product back.

If you require new packaging, there is a fee of $50 that will be deducted from your return. 

Do you have a warranty? We offer a 1-year warranty during which time we will replace any parts that are broken or do not arrive as advertised. 


Can I see Sabai before I buy? A sample Sabai sofa is available to view at The Canvas by Querencia in Brooklyn, New York.
