If you enjoy decorating your home, you probably have the first day of fall marked on your calendar and your decor ready to go! But if you need a little inspiration, here are 4 sustainable ideas to level up the coziness in your space for autumn.
Incorporate warmer colors into your space.
Nothing says cozy more than a warm color palette. By adding warmer hues to your home, you’ll instantly feel the seasons changing. Our recycled velvet options in Moss and Mustard are perfect if you need a new sofa or if you want to accent your space with throw pillows.
Bring in your favorite autumn scents and soft lighting with candles.
The right scent and lighting can easily change up a space — you can achieve both of these things with candles. Look for ethically-made candles that contain soy or coconut wax and use essential oils (like our Sabai candle). Light them in the living room or by your desk and enjoy how the fragrance drifts through your home. And don’t forget to reuse them when you’re finished!
Rotate your seasonal decor and use what you have.
Although you may be tempted to take a peek at the fall decor aisles, the most sustainable choice is to use the items you already have. If you’re still feeling the itch to try some new decor, opt for shopping secondhand at thrift stores, flea markets, and yard sales. You can also take inspiration from nature and use real pumpkins, foliage, pine cones, and acorns that can be easily composted at the end of the season.
DIY projects like a dried flower wreath or pressed leaf gallery wall are stunning ideas that won’t create extra waste.
Add a throw blanket to cozy up while watching movies.
You know autumn is here when you find yourself gravitating towards Halloween and holiday movies (but we won’t judge if you watch them year-round😉). As the temperatures slowly start to drop, a throw blanket is just what you need for movie nights on the couch. Look for eco-friendly materials such as organic cotton or wool.
Happy fall and decorating!
