Firstly, we want to thank you for ordering our Sabai Field Rug and we hope you're enjoying your new addition to your living room!
We also know that sometimes accidents happen, so we've gathered all the information you might need to take care of and clean your rug in this blog post.
If you have other questions or concerns, don't hesitate to email our customer service team at customer@sabai.design or DM us on Instagram.
Below, we've created a chart with all the potential types of stains you might encounter and numbers that are connected to different stain removal methods. You can then use our key that explains each stain removal technique.
Start with using the first removal method until the stain no longer transfers onto your cleaning cloth. Then you can move on to the other techniques if needed until the spot is successfully removed.
Note: Some spills may contain chemicals that can discolor or damage the rug fibers or dyes. If you have doubts about what caused the stain or how to remove it, contact a professional carpet cleaner.
• Blot spills with a clean, white absorbent cloth or paper towel. Never rub a spill — rubbing pushes the spill deeper into the fibers.
• Remove any solids using a spoon or blunt knife. Always work from the edge of the stain inward and scrape in the direction of the pile when possible.
• Try to remove any residual stain with clean, lukewarm water containing a small amount of carpet shampoo or mild dishwashing liquid. Try not to over wet the stain — this makes it difficult for the rug to dry and can ruin the fibers or dye.
• If water and soap fails, you can move on to a solvent. Always test the solvent on a small corner of the rug by applying a few drops and blotting with a cloth or paper towel.
• If it doesn't negatively affect the rug, go ahead and apply the solvent directly on the stain and work from the edges to the center with a spoon handle. Blot thoroughly with a cloth or paper towel until the majority of the moisture is absorbed. Repeat the process until the spot no longer transfers to the cleaning cloth.
• Use clean water to remove any leftover product, and absorb the remaining moisture with paper towels. When dry, vacuum pile to restore texture.
• If you can't completely remove the stain, it's best to send your rug to a professional cleaner.
Cleaning spills immediately can often prevent a stain from setting in. See the chart below for specific spills and their cleaning methods.
